Dr. Nancy Istenes, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been a resident of Northeast Ohio for 24 years and moved to Hudson in 2017. Nancy and her husband, Sean Ward, are active philanthropists and have worked with the Hudson Community Foundation through their Donor Advised Fund and on several special fund raising campaigns. Nancy was a founding member of 100 Women Strong, served on their grants committee for several years and remains and active participate in this vibrant giving circle that benefits the women and children of Northeast Ohio. She has a passion for philanthropy and finding ways for people to combine efforts to make a greater difference.
Dr. Istenes is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She spent 15 years working in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio. Those years included time serving as the medical director for Laurel Lake Retirement Community and a few terms on the Laurel Lake board of directors and Direction Home Akron Canton. Currently, she is the Chief Medical Officer for Saber Healthcare Group, headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio, which operates 140 long-term care and assisted living facilities in six Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states. Her teamwork and approachability have helped lead the company to improve resident care and clinical outcomes.
When Nancy is not working you will find her relaxing with her husband at their home here in Hudson, Ohio or traveling. She loves to explore unfamiliar places, hike, cook, bake, and drink a glass of wine. She is an avid knitter and usually has a pair of knitting needles in her bag.
